Tradition and vision

Masterplan Builders first began trading over 60 years ago as a father-and-son team, HR and B Wansborough, operating initially from Canterbury and later from Surrey Hills. The focus was on building quality speculative homes for client’s in Melbourne’s inner east. As the reputation grew, so did the business.

Renamed Masterplan Builders from 1971, the enterprise evolved into Victoria’s number two builder, peaking at up to 300 homes a year, with several display homes and outstanding credentials in the popular price range.

Rob Hunt joined Masterplan during that era and worked with Brian Wansborough to reposition the business towards the luxury home sector, with a special spotlight on the eastern suburbs where it had all started.

In the late 1990s, satisfied that the Masterplan team could lead the next generation of the business, Brian entrusted Masterplan to a new directorship.

Fast-forward and we have grown and evolved to meet the ever-changing needs (and wishes) of our clients. The Masterplan team of experts has sustained our reputation for high-quality workmanship, superb attention to detail and a positive, collaborative approach to translating clients’ dreams into reality.

More than half a century on, we are now specialists in the prestige home marketspace … our clients, our peers and our suppliers look to us for expertise; we are influencing how people think about building and living in their homes.
